Upma Misra - Public governor for the rest of the North East and Cumbria
Upma believes that being a Governor fits with her strong wish to improve healthcare and support the community.
She previously worked at the Trust as a doctor, so she understands how the hospital works and the challenges staff face. She also knows how dedicated the staff are. During her medical career, she gained skills that are useful in the Governor role, such as making good decisions, communicating clearly and working well with different teams. Her experience as a doctor helps her understand patients’ needs and speak up for good-quality care. Her leadership skills also help her take part in important discussions.
As a Governor, Upma wants to help keep the hospital focused on patients, financially stable and open to new ways of working. She cares deeply about making it easier for patients to get care, supporting staff wellbeing and building strong links with the community.
She will speak up for both patients and staff while supporting the hospital’s values. This role also gives her a chance to give back to the organisation that helped shape her career and had a lasting impact on her life.
