We couldn’t do what we do without the generous support of many individuals, teams, companies, grant-making trusts and our community.
Thanks to them, we have been able to make a difference for thousands of patients, their families and carers, and of course our colleagues, throughout this year and beyond.
Here we are able to share just some of the highlights of the impact our supporters have helped us to make:
£1 million Neonatal Unit revamp and accommodation rooms
Thanks to the incredible support of STS Charity, families across our region now have access to a beautifully transformed £1 million Neonatal Unit designed with comfort, support and closeness at its core.
The charity’s funding has delivered modern ensuite parent bedrooms both inside the unit and nearby, giving families a calm, supported place to stay as they prepare to take their babies home.
New spaces like the expressing room, the tranquil Lavender Room, an improved psychologist’s room and a welcoming family area mean parents can rest and recharge when they need it most. Clinical areas have also been upgraded.
To mark this milestone, we were delighted to welcome Sunderland AFC captain Luke O’Nien to officially open the new spaces, celebrating the difference this investment will make for families for years to come.

STSFT's Online Community Pilot
STS Charity was proud to fund the creation of this new online community, helping people across South Tyneside, Sunderland and beyond to click, connect and shape the future of their local healthcare.
By supporting the launch of Connect, the charity has enabled thousands of residents to share their views on proposed improvements, plans and campaigns, ensuring their voices are heard directly by the NHS teams developing those services.

Sensory Voyagers for the Children's Wards
Hospitals can be intimidating, especially for our young patients. That's why we're thrilled to share that, we've funded two new portable Rhino UK Sensory Voyagers for the children on our wards!
These fantastic trollies are bringing a splash of sensory fun to the hospital with engaging games and sensory lights.
Supporting Young Patients With Epilepsy Through Digital Innovation
STS Charity has recently funded Isla, an innovative digital platform that is transforming how young patients with epilepsy are supported.
Isla allows families to securely share visual updates from home directly with our clinicians, giving teams the vital information they need to monitor symptoms, adjust care and ensure every child receives the best possible treatment.
