Feeling stressed, anxious or low in mood?
If you need help, we are here to support you.
Thrive is our psychological and emotional support service, just for staff. It is led and delivered by Trust psychologists and trained professionals. It is a confidential service that can support you with your mental wellbeing and emotional needs.
What kind of support can I get?
We offer short‑term counselling with a trained counsellor who is registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Counselling gives you a safe and private place to talk about your worries with someone who is there to help.
The counsellor will help you look at your thoughts, feelings and actions so you can understand yourself and others better.
The counsellor will not give you their own opinions, tell you what to do or give you medicine. They will support you as you find your own answers. This may mean making changes in your life or learning new ways to cope with your problems.
We offer short assessments and support from a clinical psychologist who is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
Clinical psychologists are trained to understand and assess many kinds of psychological difficulties. Together, we will explore what may have caused the problems you are facing and what type of help might work best for you.
Psychologists are often trained in different types of therapy and have a broad understanding of how people think, feel and behave.
These sessions give a safe place for a group of staff to meet and talk about a recent event or experience. A trained staff member will help the group share what happened and think about what they can learn from it.
If you would like to arrange a reflective practice session for your team, you can email us.
I'd like support. What can I do next?
If a person’s mental or emotional state gets worse quickly, this can be referred to as a mental health crisis or a mental health emergency. If this happens, it is important to get help quickly.
A mental health crisis can mean different things to different people, but often means that you no longer feel able to cope or be in control of your situation. It can cause a significant disruption to your life and your ability to function.
You should call NHS 111 and select option 2 for crisis mental health support if you are worried about:
- thoughts about your life not being worth living or about harming yourself
- feeling out of control or unable to cope
- feeling anxious about leaving the house
- hearing voices or seeing things that others can’t
If you or someone else has physically harmed themselves, or if their life is at risk, call 999 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
