FESTIVE FOOD VANS

Based on the success and positive feedback from last year, we’re pleased to say that from Monday 1st December, we will once again be joined by small, local food vendors who will be visiting some of our sites. This is so you can enjoy some delicious festive street food to celebrate Christmas with colleagues! The vans are open for all staff, patients and visitors to purchase from. 

This year we will be joined by Piggy Blinders (burgers) and Wheels of Fire (pizzas).

The street food vans will be located at the below places:

  • Sunderland Royal: Layby outside ED entrance, opposite multi-storey car park entrance:

  • South Tyneside Hospital: Parking bays outside Ward 17, where the old pharmacy building was demolished, opposite Ingham Wing:

A Few Festive Notes Before We Tuck In…

  • Food & Drinks: Just a quick reminder – everyone will need to pay for their own food and drinks.
  • Dates & Locations: These may change slightly depending on our lovely vendors, so keep an eye out for updates.
  • Where We’re Visiting: As much as we’d love to bring the vans to every single site, it’s just not possible. Last year was a trial run, and we’ve kept the bits that worked well for this year. Some ideas didn’t quite take off, so we’ve had to tweak things.
  • Want a Van at Your Site? If your site isn’t on the list but you’ve got a good number of people keen to order, let us know! We’ll happily speak to the vendors to see if something can be arranged. We can't promise anything but we'll try our best.
  • Supporting Local: These events are in partnership with small, local businesses, so it needs to be worthwhile for them in terms of numbers and passing trade. If your site isn’t scheduled, you’re more than welcome to pop over to one of the other locations to collect food if you can. 
  • A Little Reminder: These events are organised by colleagues who work really hard to make them happen for #TeamSTSFT. Please keep our Call it Out campaign and staff Facebook group rules in mind before commenting – let’s keep things positive and #BeRespectful.
