Volunteer Fundraisers are essential to the hospital charities, without them running, swimming, dancing, baking among other things, the charities would struggle to have the impact they do on the lives of patients in South Tyneside and Sunderland.  This page outlines how to become a volunteer fundraiser and what you can do as a fundraiser.

What is a Volunteer Fundraiser?

Put simply its anyone who carries out fundraising activity on behalf of the Hospital Charities. They can be staff members, current or former patients, family members of both or just a member of the public interested in helping to improve the hospital experience.

What can I do to fundraise for the Hospital Charity?

Anything you want (within reason)

No idea is too silly, we will try to help you deliver whatever activity you want to do to fundraise for the hospital charities, whether its walk Hadrian’s wall, skate board from the mouth of the Tyne to the mouth of the Wear, sit in a bath of beans for a day. We will draw the line at anything that runs against the ideals and purpose of the hospital such as a burger eating contest and if it’s illegal then needless to say we definitely won’t support it.

We have fundraisers who do regular bag packs at local shops, others who have organised cabaret nights and even have a volunteer who takes part in distance runs with a wheelie bin attached to his back!

If you are stuck for ideas the charities regularly organise fundraising activities that you can join in with. We also offer opportunities on events organised by others where we have negotiated places or have a partnership with the organisers such as the Lambton Run. For more information regarding these visit our events page.

How much support will I get?

We will help you as much as we can, but with our limited resources we can't do everything for you. We have produced a guide to fundraising which is available to download at the bottom of this page, this should get you started we can also provide a template sponsorship forms and we will always do our best to answer any questions you have and get you heading in the right direction.

Do I have to raise a set amount?

No! We are happy to accept all donations large and small, we put every peny to good use.

Can I fundraise online?

Yes!

We have a Just Giving page that you can link your fundraising page to if you are fundraising for a fund linked to the City Hospitals Sunderland Charity and a Virgin Money Giving page you can link to if you are fundraising for a fund linked to the South Tyneside Charity (click on the highlighted text to link to the pages).

A guide to setting up your own JustGiving fundraising page can be fond below.

Do I have to register to be a Volunteer Fundraiser?

Yes!

We require all volunteer fundraisers to complete a fundraising agreement. Some fundraising is affected by local authority regulations and national legislation, the fundraising agreement helps us advise and support you properly, it also lets others know that your fundraising is legitimate. Please contact us to get an agreement form to complete, its is a very short and striaght forward form to complete.
