We work flexibly

“Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.”

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that we all need to be flexible in our approach to work. It is important that we all feel trusted with the freedom to do our jobs well. We also need to have some balance and flexibility to manage our busy home lives. How are we doing this?

  • We have embraced technology and supported teams with the necessary kit to hold virtual meetings and patient consultations via Microsoft Teams and phone calls as part of our new everyday normal.
  • We developed some Remote Working Guidance for colleagues working from home and have piloted new ways of working within certain teams.
  • We have an agreed Agile Working Policy that gives us the freedom to work smarter and moves away from the ‘one size fits all’ approach and traditional working practices.
  • Our Flexible Working Policy promotes a positive work / life balance and supports colleagues who may need to change their working patterns. All of our policies can be found on our staff intranet.
  • Our dedicated Childcare Co-ordinator, Susan Matheson, continues to support colleagues with need urgent childcare needs and we also support staff who have other caring responsibilities.
  • We are developing support to help with your financial wellbeing.
  • We support colleagues who wish to Retire and Return with part-time opportunities so that you can take a step towards retirement, but at a slower pace.
  • We know everyone’s home life is different and we have given managers a number of options to give you flexibility when the unexpected happens.
  • We actively encourage our managers to support and accommodate the religious beliefs and practices of #TeamSTSFT and be responsive to your needs, for more information on this please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion page.
