The building has undergone extensive refurbishment to provide an environment that is user friendly and in keeping with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. There are five planned beds and two available crisis beds and each bedroom has an en-suite shower and toilet and the facilities have an adapted bathroom should the individual wish to use this. The Unit has a Sensory Room, so that our patients can relax or have sensory stimulation. If our patient needs to have their own space, or a quiet environment, we also have a separate self- contained flat. Elmville is situated within the grounds of Monkton Hall along with other learning disability services such as Psychiatry, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. We are staffed over 24 hours by specialist qualified nurses and highly skilled Health Care Assistants, that have a minimum of NVQ at level 3. In addition, all of our staff attend regular in- service and mandatory training to update and expand their knowledge base, to provide patients with the best possible care. Elmville Short Break service strives to provide an excellent standard of care and regularly evaluates its service delivery and design to accommodate the ever changing needs of its local population. We also carry out regular service user and carer satisfaction surveys and use these to further design and shape the service going forward.
