Callum Taylor and John Lazaro won awards at the regional conference of the NHS Skills Development Network.

The NHS Skills Development Network supports the improvement of leadership and professional development skills. It helps raise standards and shares best practice.

Callum joined the Trust last April from another NHS Trust in the region.

Part of his work has involved setting up systems to monitor cancer cases to help improve care and treatment. He has also worked with the Trust’s community services to raise the standard of data they collect.

Paul Harrison, Reporting Manager, put Callum forward for his award.

Paul said:

"We were delighted when we found out he had won this award.

"Callum is always extremely helpful and creates high-quality work.

"Callum's insights, attention to detail and collaborative spirit make a significant impact on all the services we provide data for.

"Congratulations Callum on winning this award, your contribution to our team has been immense."

Vicky Carr, Deputy Data Assurance Manager, nominated John, who is known as Johnny.

She said since he joined the Trust in November 2023 following his relocation from the Philippines, he has “approached every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience, and a commitment to excellence”.

His eye for accuracy has helped colleagues deliver better patient care and safety.

She added:

"What sets Johnny apart is his exemplary attitude. He consistently exhibits a positive demeanour, professionalism, and dedication to maintaining high standards in his work.

"Johnny’s journey is an inspiring testament to his work ethic, adaptability, and commitment to data quality.  He embodies the core values of the NHS, and I have no doubt that he will continue to excel and inspire others.

"It was with great pride that I nominated Johnny for this well-deserved recognition, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him."

Graeme Phillips, a Data Development Manager with the team, was also shortlisted for the same award as Callum.
