On Saturday 5th October South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are installing a new Patient Electronic Record system in south Tyneside called MEDITECH. This new system will give us quick and secure access to your records for more co-ordinated and efficient care.
While this is being introduced if you are using our services in South Tyneside you may experience a slight delay in your appointment.

Our Trust is a Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) organisation which means it is one of the most digitally advanced Trusts in the country. As part of our role as a GDE, the Trust is developing a blueprint to transform its digital systems and become paper-free, initiatives already implemented have greatly enhanced patient safety, outcomes, quality and organisational efficiency. MEDITECH is already operational in Sunderland and its implementation in South Tyneside is one of these initiatives. GDE offers the Trust the opportunity to expedite its clinical IT strategy, achieving the ambition of being ‘paper-free at the point of care’ by 2020.
