There is an open invitation from South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to join in this year’s carol singing at Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside District Hospital.

The carolling at Sunderland Royal will begin at 6pm on Monday, December 16th, in the chapel before the choristers move outside to sing around the Christmas tree at the hospital’s main entrance. The local Salvation Army band will provide the accompaniment for the singing.

The carols at South Tyneside District Hospital will be on Wednesday, December 18th, at 7pm, in Alexander’s restaurant. Music on this occasion will be courtesy of the Salvation Army and the group, Spiritus. In keeping with tradition, there will be a memorial tree upon which people can leave messages for loved ones.

Patients, visitors and staff are welcome to join in at both venues or simply enjoy the singing. Refreshments will be available afterwards in both places.
