Time is running out for people with at least one Jewish grandparent to register for free BRCA gene testing before the programme closes for new registrations on Friday, 31 October.

Having Jewish ancestry increases your risk of having a BRCA gene fault which puts you at increased risk of developing certain types of cancer – specifically breast, ovarian, prostate and pancreatic cancer.

Knowing you have a BRCA gene fault allows you to access a range of options, available on the NHS, that help to manage and reduce cancer risk, as well as avoid passing on the gene fault to your children.

Anyone living in England, aged 18 or over with one or more Jewish grandparent, is eligible for the programme and urged to sign up as soon as possible via the website: The NHS Jewish BRCA Testing Programme

Since the launch of the programme in January 2024, over 32,000 people have registered for testing.
