2017Report224.jpgSouth Tyneside and Sunderland Healthcare Group is looking to attract newly qualified and registered nurses and midwives who want to develop a career within City Hospitals Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trusts, as well as talk to those who have an interest in starting a career in nursing or midwifery.

The open events will take place on Thursday 17 May between 2-5pm in the Education Centre at Sunderland Royal and Wednesday 23 May between 2-5pm in the Dining Room at South Tyneside District Hospital.

Nurses and Midwives from both Trusts will be there to give general information about the roles available at City Hospitals Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trusts as well as to talk about how nurses and midwives are supported and developed throughout their career.

Both Trusts already work with local universities to ensure a seamless transition for student nurses and midwives joining the team. They also offer a preceptorship programme which matches newly qualified nurses and midwives with experienced colleagues who can guide and mentor them through their initial months.

The Trusts recently went out to the Philippines in a bid to attract more Filipino nurses to work across both Trusts. The trip was a success with up to 50 new nurses due to start at both Trusts in next few months.

Andrea Stubbs, Head of Nursing Workforce and Role Development at City Hospitals Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trusts, said: “Our nurse and midwife recruitment open days are generally very popular and a great opportunity for those with an interest in working for the Trusts to come and speak to existing members of staff. We have lots of opportunities for newly qualified and registered nurses and midwives and everyone is welcome to just come along and find out more.
