This month marked a milestone for Great Britain at the 2024 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, as the team celebrated their best-ever results.

Among the wins was the gold medal by the GB coastal mixed coxed quadruple sculls – Great Britians first ever in this boat class.

Representing the team is Ryan Glymond, who is currently a Foundation Year Two Junior Doctor at Sunderland and South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust.

Ryan is currently balancing responsibilities between the undergraduate education centre and General Practice at Bridge View Medical Practice in Southwick.

Reflecting on this monumental achievement, he said:

“This was my third World Championships and first medal, so to win Gold for Great Britain for the first time was really special.

I've been so fortunate to have been supported by the team here at SRH and the Foundation Programme Office to be able to trial for the team, train in the crew and then compete at the event in Genoa, Italy.”
