Hospital teams who treat hundreds of patients every week have been praised for the care they give following overwhelming feedback thanking them for their dedication.
Staff from Sunderland Royal Hospital Outpatients Department have been presented the Star Award from Healthwatch Sunderland.

The independent organisation works as a champion for those who use health and social care services across the city.
Healthwatch presented the hospital department with the award following a nomination from a patient who was helped by the team.
This was backed up by hundreds of comments from others who had visited the service following feedback collected by Healthwatch as part of an engagement session in the department.
The Outpatients Team is based in the hospitals Chester Wing. The teams offer a range of services such as Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, General Surgery and Vascular.
The Healthwatch Sunderland Star Awards recognise teams and organisations working in health and social care who have received positive feedback. This could be for treatment and care received for a positive patient experience.
Outpatient Nurse Manager, Christine Tilbury was thrilled that the department has been recognised for their work.

She said:
"I’m very proud of the team, everybody makes a great contribution to creating a positive patient experience.
"It’s lovely to receive this award to acknowledge that. Thank you very much on behalf of the Outpatients Department."
Representatives from Healthwatch presented the department with the award.

"On behalf of patients, we are delighted to be able to issue the Outpatients Department and its staff with one of our Star Awards.
"The Star Awards are a Healthwatch Sunderland initiative which acknowledge and recognise the contribution that staff and services make to health and social care services in our area."
The Trust’s Outpatients Department also works across a host of sites including South Tyneside District Hospital, Palmer Community Hospital, Sunderland Children’s Centre, Durham Treatment Centre and The Galleries Outpatients Department.
