Rise Above Cancer 

Rise Above Cancer is our South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust cancer charity, which provides much needed help and assistance to people affected by cancer in our local area, including patients, carers and family members. This support is delivered through our Macmillan Information and Support Centre, here are some things the charity support with:

  • A sympathetic listening service for people affected by cancer.
  • Benefits and welfare rights advice delivered by dedicated professional advisors.
  • Professional counselling services for patients.
  • Professional complementary therapy sessions for patients and carers.
  • Look Good Feel Better sessions for patients going through treatment.
  • Bandanas for hair loss sufferers.
  • Dedicated pre-arranged parking bays for patients attending chemotherapy.
  • Advice and support at chemotherapy sessions.
  • Referral to charitable legal advice covering; employment issues, will-writing, etc...

 

Become a supporter/fundraiser
Our charity plays a vital role in helping to improve the experience of all who visit and use our services. With the generous support of our staff, patients, their families and friends, we are able to:

  • fund specialist equipment
  • make our hospitals more comfortable for our cancer patients
  • provide the necessary extras that make a difference
