  • Cancer Connections a cancer support charity for South Tyneside residents
  • FACT What We Do delivers education and awareness programmes across the North East
  • Cancer Research UK is a cancer charity which works to reduce people's risk of getting cancer, diagnose more cancers earlier, develop new cancer treatments and make treatments more effective.
  • Macmillan Cancer Support provides information and support to people affected by cancer from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond. The charity aims to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK by addressing their medical, social, emotional and practical needs.
  • Macmillan Centre offers information centres on both Sunderland Royal Hospital and South Tyneside Hospital sites.
  • Macmillan Joining the Dots County Durham is a free, personal service for people aged 18 and over who live or are registered with a GP within County Durham and have been diagnosed with cancer. We’re also there for friends, carers and relatives of any age too. Supporting people to live with and beyond cancer utilising community support and self-help strategies.

  • Marie Curie is for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. The charity offers expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left.

  • Northern Cancer Voices - Northern Cancer Voices are a group of volunteers, patients, carers, and health professionals with an interest in ensuring the best possible quality of care and support for cancer patients and their family and friends. They have a Collaborative Group of health professionals, volunteers and patients covering the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) – the largest ICS in the country. It is chaired by Tori Bradison and currently funded by the Northern Cancer Alliance through a small grant awarded to us by Coping with Cancer. The Collaborative Group is supported by four regional groups who have representatives closer to local services and local cancer patients and their carers. The group will:

Other Charities 

Carers Centres for both Sunderland and South Tyneside provide support for people who look after others, within the family or friends.  They do not support professional organisations that look after carers.
