About Us
Children and young people may be referred to our outpatient service by their GP or other health professional to see a Paediatrician regarding various conditions.
What to Expect at your Appointment
The length of the appointment will vary, and depends on the reason we need to see your child. You are expected to attend the appointment with your child.
Your appointment will include an initial assessment. Here you will usually discuss your concerns and how your child is managing at home, nursery or at school. You will be asked for detailed information regarding factors that affect your child’s health and development, for example your child’s birth and social situation, family structure and housing etc. This may be followed by a physical examination or tests.
After your Appointment
There are a number of possible outcomes at the end of your first appointment
1. You may be given some advice and strategies to help your child and no further reviews may be needed, unless there is any concern in the future
2. Further appointments may be required to gain a clearer understanding of your child’s needs and progress
3. Your child may be referred to another healthcare professional for further assessment or management of the condition
Your GP and other health professionals will be informed that your child has attended our services.
Please remember
As there is always demand for appointments, please let us know as soon as you can if you are unable to attend for any reason. Contact us by using the relevant telephone number on your appointment letter or text message and we will try to arrange a more suitable time for you.
