Equality Act 2010: All disabled people have the right to reasonable adjustments. This includes when using public services such as healthcare.

We need to make it as easy for disabled people to use health services. This is called making reasonable adjustments.

Reasonable adjustments are changes which mean people with a learning disability or Autism can access the healthcare they need.

Reasonable adjustments can be simple changes made by one healthcare professional. Or, they can be more complex and need many teams to work together.

Reasonable adjustments are dependent on the person. Everyone has different needs.

People with a learning disability have worse health than people without a learning disability. They are more likely to experience several health conditions.

We need to make sure reasonable adjustments are put in place in the healthcare setting.

Watch this short video produced by the NHS. It shows how important making reasonable adjustments are to the patient or service user.
