A new podcast is giving insight into life at a local hospital trust by sharing stories from the teams who work there.

Staff from South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are fronting the new podcast, called ‘Our People’, with a new episode launched each week.

The first episode is already available to download or stream and looks at how the trust’s maternity team worked alongside Down Syndrome North East (DSNE) after the charity offered support packs to gift families of babies born with the condition. You can listen to it here.

It will be followed each week by catch ups with the trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team and Radiology Team. There will also be updates on how the research is helping the trust improve treatments through clinical trials as well as the journey patients follow as they are discharged from its wards.

Liz Davies, Director of Communications said: “We are absolutely thrilled to share our new podcast series. It will shine a light on the high quality, innovative care we provide as well as showcase the amazing people working behind the scenes in our hospitals and community venues.

“It’s an opportunity for listeners to discover what goes on in our busy departments, learn more about what we do and some of the exciting things we have coming up.

“There are so many stories we want to tell and this podcast gives our staff a platform to share what they do and how it is making a difference every day.”

The ‘Our People’ Podcast is available to listen to via Spotify here and through the Trust’s YouTube channel.
