Patients undergo various forms of anaesthesia that keeps them comfortable and safe during surgery. Your anaesthetist will also ensure that your pain relief continues after the surgery, even when you have left the theatre area. Before undergoing planned surgery, you will be required to attend the PREP clinic, for Preoperative Risk Evaluation and Preparation. Outpatient clinic for preoperative assessment is on the 3rd floor of the main hospital building. Outpatient clinic for Rehabilitation after Critical Illness (RaCI) is in the Outpatient department.
Kayll Road, Sunderland SR4 7TP ICCU is located on the C-level of the main building (the Kayll Road Block) and has restricted access. Outpatient pain clinics are located at Washington Galleries Health Centre, Cleadon Park Health Centre, Chester Lodge and the Chester Wing of the Sunderland Royal Hospital.
