Preparation of interventional procedures
When you come to the SDIN department, you will be reviewed before the date of your procedure. We will check your blood tests, skin swabs and give you aseptic washes. You may see a consultant who will discuss the procedure with you and obtain your consent.
Patients will have the procedure in the radiology suite or SDIN department.
Care after your procedure
You will usually come back to the SDIN department to recover. Depending on the procedure this can be for a few hours and we recommend bringing an overnight bag just in case there are any complications.
Follow-up appointments will be made in appropriate departments.
Vascular access clinic
A weekly clinic in the SDIN department with a Vascular Surgeon to assess for fistula formation, graft insertion, surgical peritoneal catheter insertion and review of existing vascular access.
