Our emergency department treats serious, urgent conditions and injuries to the eye.
It is the only 24/7 dedicated eye Accident and Emergency Unit in the North East.
Patients who have an urgent eye problem and need to attend our Emergency Eye Department should ring a 24/7 number.

This allows us to assess a patient so we can plan treatment if they do need to be seen in person.
It also means we are ready to help as soon as they arrive at our department.
